Set against the backdrop of the 1984 Miner’s Strike, ‘Fight for the right’ is a new play exploring the history of people’s protests through the eyes of of two generations of men.
Freddie and Bobby are neighbours; Freddie, an ‘old before his time’ ex-miner and Bobby, a freshly home university graduate spend their days passing the time in Freddie’s living room as Bobby tries to find a job.
Using local man, Spike Robson, as the catalyst, Freddie tries to teach Bobby the reality of life beyond what he learned during his studies. When a job offer threatens to draw a distinct line between ‘them’ and ‘us’, Bobby must decide what is most important to him: personal pride or his local community.
Live music before the play. Tickets are FREE. Please ring 0191 2584111 or email email@example.com to reserve your place.
